A recent survey of Service Canada’s front line workers in Quebec paints a troubling picture of frustrated clients and poor morale for workers due to drastic changes to the Employment Insurance (EI) program.
The survey was conducted by the Quebec region of the Canada Employment and Immigration Union (CEIU), a component of PSAC.

The 2014 Public Service Employee Survey released yesterday continues to demonstrate the negative impact of public service cuts. The survey results also raise major concerns about the continuing problems of harassment and poor mental health in the public service. Despite these problems, most public service workers are committed to doing a good job.

Our PA, TC, SV, EB, and FB teams spent the week in negotiations with Treasury Board, seeking significant improvements to the mental health provisions in our collective agreements as well improved child care options for public service workers. These proposals were tabled during negotiations with Treasury Board on Tuesday January 13.

PSAC spent the week of November 18 in negotiations with Treasury Board, seeking to improve workplace conditions on behalf of more than 100,000 of our members. In doing so, we put forward proposals that would both protect workers strengthen public services for all Canadians.
