Kamloops – Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, including federal government workers from Service Canada, Corrections Canada, RCMP civilian staff, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and Environment Canada are gathering in Riverside Park to meet with candidates in the upcoming federal election to hear from them about their party’s plan for federal public services.
“The Conservative government has cut federal public services and tens of thousands of public service jobs without regard for the impact the cuts will have on Canadians who rely on the services.” says Bob Jackson, Public Service Alliance of Canada’s Regional Executive Vice President for BC, “These cuts to services undermine our safety, our health and our environment.
“Public services are a major contributor to the security and prosperity of our families and communities, have many social benefits, and have a tangible financial impact on people’s lives. PSAC members and the public want to know what candidates in Kamloops – South Okanagan will do to restore federal public services.”
The Public Service Alliance of Canada has invited candidates from all four major parties to come and speak to federal government workers and the public to talk about these and other issues.
