I would like to thank all and congratulate all the PSAC members who participated in our provincial Day of Action. And, of course, all the members who worked hard to help organize the event by plant gating, desk dropping, and coordinating the delivery of signs. Please pass this message on!We showed our employers – and our fellow members – yesterday that we are united, ready, and committed to defending public services, our collective agreements, and our working conditions. When we all work together, we are indeed a force to be reckoned with.

On May 1st PSAC members across BC will congregate outside of their worksites and hold signs that say "Standing Together for Public Services, Standing Together for Fairness”. It’s time to send a message to the government: We are united, ready and committed to defending our collective agreements, public services, and our working conditions. Why? Because we know this government is determined to try to take away as many of our negotiated benefits as possible.  That’s the example they’re setting.

Ottawa, ON (September 20, 2013). The Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC) is stupefied that Canada is rejecting calls from the UN Human Rights Council for Canada to develop a comprehensive national review to end violence against Aboriginal women. The NWAC has called on the Government of Canada for several years now to conduct a National Public Inquiry; over these years, thousands of Canadians and organizations have responded in support of the necessity to document and resolve the situation of missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls in Canada.

Let's make 2013 Victoria Pride Parade the biggest PSAC participation that the island has ever seen! The Vancouver Island Human Rights Committee would like to invite all Locals and PSAC members on Vancouver Island to march together as a PSAC convoy in the upcoming Victoria Pride Parade July 7, 2013. In the past years, we have marched behind multi-union convoys but we would like to encourage more PSAC locals and committees to come out, show support and march together.

May 17 is the International Day against Homophobia. The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) stands in solidarity with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans communities.Respect in the workplace is essential. PSAC is there to support our members who face the hostility, homophobia or transphobia that can sometimes occur in the workplace. We are also engaged in bargaining collective agreements that meet the particular needs of our GLBT members. And we continue to work to better protect the human rights of transgendered people.

These conferences are an opportunity for our members to continue the important work of maintaining and improving the militancy and activism of the Union in the struggle to improve the human rights and working conditions of all PSAC members.
