We asked Bob Jackson, PSAC Regional Executive VP for BC, why members are taking action on June 8th. Here's what he had to say.

It's time to raise the minimum wage! PSAC members joined with hundreds of people in Vancouver on the Canadian National Day of Action for a $15 Minimum Wage. British Columbia has the lowest minimum wage in Canada and this leaves full-time workers living thousands of dollars below the poverty line. We believe that work should lift you out of poverty, not keep you in it. It's time for the BC government to make a real increase the minimum wage so that nobody is left behind.

124 PSAC members working at OLG Rideau-Carleton Raceway Slots in Ontario have been locked out since December 16th. Management locked out the workers after their bargaining team refused to accept a new contract that would freeze wages for two years and remove existing pension language from the current collective agreement. Bob Jackson and the PSAC BC Regional Council just sent the letter below to the General Manager. **************** April 19, 2016 Wayne Newell, General Manager, OLG Rideau-Carleton Raceway Slots

The Public Service Alliance of Canada BC Region stands in solidarity with the people of Attawapiskat and the activists who continue to bring the deplorable conditions in some indigenous communities before the public eye.

VANCOUVER, March 21, 2016 /CNW/ - The Public Service Alliance of Canada BC Region is calling on Finance Minister Bill Morneau to create real change by reinvesting in the federal public service for the immediate benefit of British Columbians. "We urgently need to see a new approach from this government. The Liberal election platform promised to improve the quality of public services, including reducing wait times and increasing access to in-person services. We will hold them to that," said Bob Jackson, PSAC Regional Executive Vice President for BC.

Happy International Women’s Day, sisters and brothers! Tomorrow, people around the world will take the opportunity to celebrate women's leadership, and the difference women make in our communities and society every day. PSAC members, in particular, have much to be proud of and to celebrate on International Women’s Day.
