Bob Jackson

Bob was first elected as the PSAC Regional Executive Vice-President for BC in 2011, and re-elected to a second term in 2014. Prior to becoming REVP, Bob was a founding member of the BC Regional Council, where he served as the National Officer’s Coordinator for two terms. Bob was also the Agriculture Union Regional Vice President for eighteen years and held many positions in his Local over this 30 year career in the federal government at CFIA and Agriculture Canada. Bob is especially passionate and active around Health and Safety issues.

As the REVP, Bob is responsible for the following in the BC Region:

    * BC Regional Council;
    * Organizing and recertifications;
    * Education;
    * Political and social action;
    * Women's and equity programs;
    * Area Councils;
    * Directly Chartered Locals and Separate Employers;
    * Federations of Labour and related committees and District Labour Councils.

Bob sits on the Alliance Executive Committee (AEC) along with the six other REVPs and the National President and Vice President. His AEC portfolio includes Health & Safety, the Environment and he has responsibility for TC Bargaining. He also represents PSAC at the BC Federation of Labour, where he sits on the Executive Council.

Please see the attached notice from PSAC National President Robyn Benson regarding National Public Service Week activities which takes place June 14 – 20, 2015. At the March 2015 meeting of the National Board of Directors, we once again called for a boycott of NPSW. Tony Clement and the Conservative government are at the Treasury Board, Parks and CFIA bargaining tables intent on dismantling our sick leave and benefits and at CRA the employer refuses to bargain meaningfully.

On March 9th, just over 1,300 PSAC members in our Treasury Board units in BC participated in a live telephone town hall meeting with Robyn Benson, PSAC National President, Bob Jackson, PSAC BC's Regional Executive Vice-President, and Seth Sazant, Lead Negotiator at the TC Table. Robyn, Bob and Seth provided an update on bargaining with our Treasury Board units, talked about solidarity events, political action and the upcoming election, and took questions from PSAC members. In a referendum coming up in March, Metro Vancouver residents will be asked to vote on a 0.5 per cent hike in B.C.'s Provincial Sales Tax to improve public transit service. Our votes will approve or reject the Metro Vancouver Mayors’ Council plan for more transit routes, more buses and HandyDART vans, more options and better routes for cyclists and drivers and better transportation options over the region.

On behalf of the 17,500 PSAC members that live and work in BC, it gives me great pleasure to endorse the Fight for $15 Minimum Wage Campaign that is being coordinated by the BC Federation of Labour.An increase to the minimum wage will help reduce poverty and inequality in our province - one of the richest in Canada - and will have a positive impact on the economy.

The award will recognize members of the BC Region who have rendered service of the greatest distinction and of singular excellence in any field of endeavour, benefiting the PSAC or its members.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada’s B.C. Regional Council voted earlier this week to endorse Irene Lanzinger in her bid to become the first woman to lead the BC Federation of Labour.
