Our Regional Women’s Committees are made up of women from many different components. We have a very open door and welcome anyone wanting to join us.

December 6th is National Day of Rememberance and Action on Violence Against Women

Violence against women continues to be a serious issue in CanadaIt is estimated that 60% of Canadian women have suffered from physical or psychological violence at some time in their life.In 2007, nearly 40,200 incidents of spousal violence were reported to police. This represents about 12% of all police-reported violent crime in Canada.Between April 1, 2007 and March 31, 2008, approximately 101,000 women and children were admitted to 569 shelters in Canada.Take action!

End the Cycle of Violence
The PSAC invites all of our members to attend the The Sisters in Spirit vigils that will be held across the country on October 4th

These vigils are meant to honour the more than 600 Aboriginal women that have been murdered or gone missing and to keep their memories alive. They are also meant to draw public attention to this horrific violence as a way to help end the assaults on native women.

In Canada, women have the right to control over their own bodies. Now, a Conservative MP's motion could put serious limits on women's reproductive rights.MP Stephen Woodworth's motion M-312 calls for a special Parliamentary committee to review the definition of “human being” in the Criminal Code of Canada. If passed, the motion could undermine a woman's constitutional right to security of the person once she becomes pregnant.

Greetings,I'm happy to let you know the AEC approved a national summer campaign earlier this month, to be held under the theme "We Are All Affected". The campaign, which will launch officially next week, is designed to promote the value of federal public services and is very similar to what we've been doing here in BC over the last few summers with our "Think Public" campaign.Campaign Objectives

Women have fought for equity for many years. Now, we are faced with huge job cuts in the public service and those cuts clearly hurt women. International Womens Day is March 8

Each year around the world, International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8. Thousands of events occur not just on this day but throughout March to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. The theme for IWD in 2012 is Connecting Girls, Inspiring Futures.If every International Women's Day event held in 2012 includes girls in some way, then thousands of minds will be inspired globally.
