Season's greetings Sisters and Brothers,
As is our holiday tradition, PSAC BC has made a donation to Protein for People – a non-profit society started by unions and the United Way who donate tens of thousands of cans of BC salmon to food banks throughout the province every year. We are celebrating the holiday season by supporting this very worthy cause.
As we look back at 2015 we have a lot to be proud of, particularly when it comes to the federal election.
Over the past nine years under the Conservative government, we’ve witnessed first-hand the impact of their attacks on the public service workers and seen the negative effects of their policies in our communities.
I know PSAC members in BC voted for change and I know PSAC members were more involved in the federal election than we have ever been. Whether it was attending a rally or worksite event, getting involved in our I’m Voting For campaign, talking to friends and family, or working directly for a candidate, I know we made a difference.
I hope we can build on this energy as we look forward to new campaigns and new issues that are important to all of us: negotiating with our employers both large and small, enforcing and enhancing our collective agreements, physical and mental health and safety in the workplace, working with other unions and labour bodies, human rights and equality, and more.
On behalf of all the staff in the PSAC BC Region, we wish you and your family all the best. Happy Holidays!
Bob Jackson, Regional Executive VP, Public Service Alliance of Canada, BC Region
