TC Group bargaing update for BC update #1

Hi <<First Name>> - thanks for signing up for our regional TC bargaining list! We hope you find it informative and useful.

To avoid duplication, I’ve signed you up to get the national TC bargaing updates directly from headquarters: watch for those in your email inbox as well.

Your TC bargaining team and Treasury Board will be arguing their outstanding issues before a three-person Public Interest Commission, next week - November 12th through 16th. Under the current labour legislation a PIC is similar to the Conciliation Board under the old Public Service Staff Relations Act - the two bargaining teams will appear before the PIC and each party will present its rationale for the proposals that are still on the bargaining table.

The PIC will review the submissions and make recommendations to the Employer and to the Union within 30 days of the hearing. Although the recommendations are not binding, it is hoped that both parties will be guided by the recommendations to a fair and decent collective agreement. HQ will provide an update once the PIC is concluded.

In the meantime, if you'd like to send a message of support to the team, or have any questions email Tom Hopkins (UEW 20147, DFO) and Jack Gale (GSU 20001, Public Works) - they are always happy to hear from you.

There are also ways to be visible and support the team in your workplace

For older negotiations updates, the TC action toolbox, and background visit the Keeping Canadians Safe (TC Bargaining) section of the PSAC website.

Thanks again, <<First Name>>, and if you've found this email useful - why not forward to a co-worker?

In Solidarity,

Patrick Bragg
