Signing Ceremony Celebrates Historic Ratification of Collective Agreements between FNHA, PIPSC and PSAC

Musqueam Territory – Vancouver, British Columbia – Yesterday, representatives from the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) and Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) celebrated the ratification of their collective agreements after two years of negotiations. These agreements were reached on March 27, 2015 and May 28, 2015, respectively, and mark a historic milestone for the three parties as the first collective agreements of their kind in Canada.

Your PSAC bargaining team began the formal bargaining process and met with the employer for the first time this week. The team, consisting of Dave Jackson, Chair; Rick Levigne, PSAC/UNDE Local 210018; Jamie Oyakawa, PSAC/UNDE Local 210018; Phil Lehman, PSAC/UNDE Local 210018; and Mark Miller, UNDE/VP-BC exchanged proposals with the employer June 16th in Victoria BC. PSAC launches court action against Bill C-59

Today, the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) has taken the first step in its legal challenge against Bill C-59, the legislation that is gutting the collective bargaining rights of federal public service workers. The PSAC filed its constitutional challenge to Bill C-59 in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

Vancouver - Members of the three largest unions in the federal government, the Public Service Alliance of Canada; the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada; and Canadian Association of Professional Employees, will gather to rally on Friday, June 19th, 12PM at Library Square in Vancouver. Federal workers across Canada have been holding actions during National Public Service Week, calling on the government to respect the constitutional rights of federal employees.
