The PSAC BC Region has three Human Rights Committees who meet regularly to in person and via conference call to discuss issues and plan events relating to PSAC's Aboriginal, PWD, GLBT, and Racially Visible caucus members.

The BC Region also has four Regional Council members who represent equity-seeking groups. They are responsible for PSAC members within their constituencies and speak for them at the Council, they seek to promote the activism of PSAC members within these constituencies, and they ensure and promote representation for their constituencies throughout our Union.

The first ever PSAC BC Regional Conference for Racially Visible Members was held May 13 through 15 under the theme “Race Forward: Our Union, Our Community, Our Future!”. Thirty-five PSAC members gathered in Vancouver over the weekend to discuss, strategize and mobilize on issues impacting racially visible members in BC, share experiences and network, and empower and inspire themselves and others to become active in our union, our community, and our workplaces.

Laura Aucoin is a young worker from BC who travelled to Guatemala in February 2016 as part of the PSAC Social Justice Fund's Education In Action delegation. Along with ten other PSAC members from across the country, Laura was there to learn more about the culture and some of the struggles Mayan people face daily and build solidarity between Canada and indigenous communities in Guatemala.

The PSAC BC Mainland Human Rights Committee would like to invite PSAC members and Locals to participate in a campaign to gather items to support our new neighbours arriving from Syria. The Human Rights Committee has partnered with the Immigrant Services Society of BC to join their Family Basket campaign. ISSBC is in need of household items, basic toiletries, grocery store voucher cards, and food.
