Your bargaining team met with the employer this week for three days. We worked on your proposals as best we could but found that the employer was only focused on discussing their two main proposals which we would categorize as major “rollbacks”. Specifically the apprenticeship program and the creation of a flexible workforce which would become disposable at the whim of the employer. It became evident on the third day of bargaining that we were negotiating with ourselves.
Your negotiating team was left with no other option but to move to the next step in the bargaining process. As quickly as possible we will be filing for the assistance of a Federal Conciliation Officer. This will be the third time in the last three rounds of bargaining in which we have been forced to take this step.
We will be scheduling information sessions in the coming weeks to provide additional information and respond to any questions you may have.
